LURED TO DEATH.
NEW YORK MURDER MYSTERY. The discovery of the body of Mr Isador Vo:»eI, a wealthy Jewish jt waller, in a deserted basement offijo in a huge block of buildings in New York, last month, gave tho paliro a gruesome mystery to clear up. The deceased, who hail beon mic-in" from his hotel for a few days, was bora to havo been in posjapsiofi of diamonds valued at nearly £3,000 at the thne of hi;; death, and as these cannot be found, hh presumed that robbery wis the motive of ihe crime. Mr Vogel" had evidently Iwen decayed to the office v/lr-TC his body was found, and the indications are that he was attacked by two or more men. The niurdcrsi-s endeavored to dispess of the body by burning it hi a small furnace, but cither iney were disturbed or they decided that the furnace was uofc lar-je enough for their purpose. The leps and lower portions of the body were charred. The behaviour of the lift attendaut was considered so suspicious that he was token into custody. Later the engineer was also arrested, and it is stated that ihs two prisoners wero foupd to be in possession of a small diamond wtd a blood-stained pea, which ara behaved to have ttie property of the murdered man.
