MEETINGS AND SOCIALS.

ST. CLAIR PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The South Dunedin Presbyterian Church choir went to St. Clair last night and gave an entertaiument at the gymnasium in aid of the fund for providing a new class room for the Sunday school of the St. Clair Presbyterian Church. This kindly offer of assistance was keenly appreciated by tho St. Clair people, and their thanks were heartily expressed. Tho entertainment consisted of a programme of sacred music and the cantata ' The New Jerusalem,' the whole affair being under the direction of Mr T. J. Brownell, with Miss Brownell at the organ and .Mr W. Beck at the piano. As Mr J. C. M'Clymont was indisposed, his solos were taken by Mf Rawlinson. Other soloists were Mrs Grace. Mrs Dowden, Miss Nellie Taylor, Miss Netta Thomson, Messrs J. D. Cameron, C. Graco, K. Skew, and C. Trim. They all did good work, and the choir singing was very satisfactory ; indeed, the concert was a distinct success. SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION. Mr Newton Jones continued ]ffs meeting" under the auspices of the Otago Sunday School Union in the Cargill Road Methodist Church last evening. The boys' and girls' meeting at 6.30 took the form of a museum service, the scholars having been invited to bring objects mentioned in tho Bible. Several scholars brought very interesting objects, Mr Jones making a few remarks on thorn all, and awarding a number of prizes for the best. So succcr.e.ful was this meeting, which was attended by over 350 boys and girls, that Mr Jones has decided to hold another museum service in tho Art Gallery Hall next week. Tho 8 o'clock meeting last evening for teachers and senior scholars was ako well attended, and Mr Joucg gave an interesting address to workers. Ihe meetings will to concluded this evening by another 'Chalk Talks to Boys and Girls' at 6.30 p.m., and an .-.d dress to adults at 8 p.m. To-morrow evening Mr Jones gives his lecture, 'ls Life Worth Living?' This lecture Ls illustrated by 50 slides, all cartoons by the lato Frank Beard (tho well-known cartoonist), illustrating various phases of life. In addition to this Mr Jones will show 50 other slides cf modern Sunday schools and of his sand services at Margato and other seaside resorts. The lecture commences at 8 p.m., and will be held in the Cargill Road Methodk! Church.
