Dividends have been declared in Consolidated Gold fields and Blaokwater Mines (Is Cd). The dividends are payable on October 51. . . At the Mav Queen Gold Mining Company's mine work on the Exchange, lode at the I,oooft level is beintr continued, and the developing work in this direction is provim: of a satisfactory nature. The lodo in the face, continues to show gold, and vields a- little picked stone, at each breaking down. A parcel of ore, taken from this drive, was -treated at the battery during last week, and gave the very satisfactory return of 650z of gold from 10 loads of general ore and 351b of picked stone, which had been selected from it. This lode has shown good prospects for the last 150 ft driven on, 6o_ that- good block is being opened up. which is still extending as the drive advances eastward. Tt is calculated that a few more feet of driving should make a junction with the larger body of quartz out in the main crosscut near the chamber. It is intended to continue this drive for a further 100 ft, which will reach a point where a connection mav be made with the No. 9 level bv means of a rise of 250 f- in height. Tho crosscut for the Bright Smile shaft has now reached a point about 95ft from the- shaft, and it is expected that quartz lodes may be met with at, any time during the driving of that distance before the shaft is reached. The stopes on the branches of No. 4 lode, above No. 6 level, are still producing a steady supply of payable ore. THE SHARE MARKET. Dirxr.DlN EXCIJANGK.
