October 5 A test case was decided by the Chief Justice to-d.iy. in which the Minister of Custom? sued R: ■.-.-, av.rl Glendining, Ltd., for £1 8s Bd, additional duty due on exported goods, purchased at a certain p; icj, which price had advanced by the time the boat left for England some monihs afterwards. Sir R. Stout held thai the duty payable must be assessed on the value as at the date of export, and export did not take place till the vessel actually left. 'The duty, there fee, was due on the advanced value in this instance. Judgment was entered for the Minister, with 3g.* costs.
