He had taken an unwarranted liberty in criticising her new hat. It provoked her. She was about to say that she didn't propose to be dictated to by any man. But she didn’t any it. Ail she raid was: “ t do not propose ” Then he interrupted her. “If you did." lie smilingly murmured, “I should certainly say Yes." And that seemed to settle it.
