OVERCROWDING OF TRAMCARS.

TO THE KDITOR. Sir,—ln spite of the repeated reference in the columns of the daily papers and protestations by the general" public, there is no improvement whatever with respect to the above grievance. On .Saturday afternoon I came from St. Clair by the car which arrived at the Post Office "about 2.17 o'clock. There were about 1-1 standing -when Ogg's Corner was reached, and I counted o4 standing when tbo car arrived at Majise street. The inspector was at the Post Office terminus, and I mentioned the matter to him. Xuiv, sir. it is not a question of show time, or breakdowns in power, etc. It is simply inhuman to pack people in this fashion*, and in this instance the car had no right to pull up for more passengers after leaving the Workshops. ■Re suggestions by the Defence Committee or Department for concessions, let me add that I think the sooner the. whole aei'vice is given up to Scouts, school children. Territorials, and public officials the better, and let the genera] public go hang. Also at the end of the sections no one should be allowed to enter the front of tha car. There is no attempt at regulation whatever, and in this one respect the general public are the offenders.—l aso, etc.. Disgusted. August 7.
