A GREAT RUSH

FOR DRAPERY BARGAINS. Seekers after wealth and fortune in the early days of this province made, for Lawrence and Gabriel's Cully. The lure of gold kept a stream of people on trudge. Gold rushes axe of the past, or at least are held up as far as this district is concerned. If excitement is wanted you have but to visit the "Mecca" of all who seek bargains in merchandise. The site of the. sale of the Canterbury Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association's stock of drapery, clothing, and furnishing has been a bnsy scene. It was there that the rush took place, and where it continues. That there are many remarkable bargains is being continually athrmed by those who have visited this sale and return again and again. Few people realise the magnitude of the salvage stock that is being sold at Penrose's. It is only those with a local knowledge of the business conditions at Waimatc who know what a splendid stock of drapery, carpets, linoleums, rugs, bedding, clothing was carried by the Farmers' Association. This stock has been on sale for eight selling days, but what community could absorb sq much stuff in so little time * The stock is not nearly sold out. Fresh lots of bargains are brought forward every dav. The manager of the dresses reports that ho is dealing with the black dress goods this week. There is a magnificent lot of beautiful blades—the best that money could buy. In Waimate these goods were kept carefully papered up, and escaped damage wonderfully well. The salvage price is fixed at near half the usual value for these goods. There are for sale amaranths, Venetians, poult royale armures, corkscrews, bengalines, roxanas, silk permios, seolians, lustres, silkwork blacks, and a great many exclusive black robe lengths. In every casa these blacks are high-class goods, scarcely any are damaged, but all are cheap at the great firo sale.—[Advt.]
