LONDON, August 2, (Received August 5, at 9.11 a.m.)
Against Lancashire, at the Oval, Hobbs, for Surrey, made 55 and 117. The game was drawn.
. Two days ago we. received a cable message stating that \V. Hrearley, the wellknown Lancashire amateur, had been offered and was likely to accept a place in the M.C.C. team for Australia. Wo are now advi&ed that the statement is incorrect. Brearley is a fast bowler, and would have been of decided service to bis side.
