HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.
The executive of the Otago Hockey Association held their weekly, meeting lo3i night, Mr J. L. Hobfcs presiding. fit.' Martin's Club wrote requesting to be informed the reason why one of their players had been ordered off the field in the match against Ota.go on Saturday. In regard to this. . matter the referee, Mr Coughlan, wrote that he had been compelled to order the pkiyer off for disputing his decision*.—-It was resolved to notify St. Martin's Club to this effect, and also to ask the player and the referee to attend next meeting.
On behalf of the Match Committee Mr Jarman reported that it would be impossible to play senior matches <m auy of the throe nest ensuing Saturdays, one "day not bting available owing_ to Forbury 'Bark being used for coursing, another being the date of the Otago-North Otago m,itch at Oamaru, and a third being the date of the Otago-Canterbury iadiea' match. There would thus be only one date available in August, the 29th, and at about that time the (Xago representative team would be going on tour. It was therefore triggered that Gymnastic and University should meet on a day to be decided later. These terns were separated only by 1 point, and the match, would therefore decide the championship. The position of the next nearest team was such that they could not reach the top in tho playing days available. Considerable discussion ensued on this proposal, it being argued that as a complete, second round could not be played the proper course was to award tho championship on the result of tho first round. A motion to- this effect was earned, an amendment to the effect that Gymnastic ana Univarsity should meet again being rejected. It was decided to instruct the Selection Committee to compile a list of players who should be asked lo make the northern tour about the end of this month, and to rope,rt 06 early as possible, .so that arrangements for the tour could be completed. It was resolved that as it is still possible to complete the second round of junior matches that competition should be continued.
