OTAGO ART SOCIETY.
' The annua! meeting' of Otn.£o Art Society was held yesterday afternoon, Dr Itoherts presiding. Tho membership of the society (said tho ur.nunt report) continues to increase. There aro now 10U working members, and 11.3 on the*honorary list. The-exhibition held last November was quite up to the usual standard. Four hundred and twontysevou pictures were shown. sonso on 'loan, and the council take this opportunity of thanking the owners for their kindness in lending them to the society. The sales amounted to £.'3.']o os. This includes a sum of tI2G .5s derived from the sale of tickets in the art union. An exhibition of sketches, including a collection of -sketches from the Dunedin School nf Art, was also held in May. This proved a trroat success. Sketches were received from artists tlircmjdiont the Dominion, and a most representative and interesting collection was secured. About 600 sketches woro exhibited. The sales amounted to £o-5 IGs 6d, including an art union of £lo 3s. No entrance fee to the gallery was charged, and the public attended in large numbers. The medals presented annually to the Boys' and Girls' High Schools were won by L. (J. Cherry and Gertrude L. Bates. From tho bal-ance-sheet it will be seen that a sum of £'2o2 12s 4d is to the credit of the society. Tho report was adopted, and the following office-bearers were- elected :—President, Mr G.
