Lord Denman has arrived at Melbourne. He was officially welcomed by Mr Hughes, and was afterwards sworn in by lire Federal Chief Justice.
Tho Northern Railway warehouse at. St. Owen, which was stocked with electrical material, has been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at a million francs(£4o,ooo).
Owing to the Argentine Republic imposing irksome quarantine restrictions, the Government, in order to uphold the national dignity, have issued a. decree suspending emigration to that country. The Russian Foreign Office has informed Great Britain that Miss Malecca is a Russian subject, but out of friendliness to England it promises to ha-sten her trial.
