TUAPEKA NEWS.
[SPECIAL TO THE STAR.] LAWRENCE, July 28. Tho prospect of Tuapeka passing out as an electoral district is not hailed with any degree of satisfaction in these parts, as there has been a feeling that m the recasting process Lawrence and the neighboring centres'might again be thrown back into Tuapeka, instead of forming part of Bruce. W r e are, however living in hopes that the Representation Commissioners will show us some little consideration and not be unmindful of Tuapeka’s past history. The Presbyterian body in our midst are now engaged in the work of choosing a successor to the Rev. R. Scott Allan, who recently accepted the Musselburgh charge. A committee from the Kirk Sessions and the church managers was appointed last evening to select four candidates, with an instruction to submit the name of ono to a congregational meeting, to be held later on, for approval or otherwise. Practically all _ who are eligible in this district have joined the Territorial forces. There has been very little trouble in prevailing on them to do their dutv.
