TO-DAY’S PARLIAMENT.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. The Council met at II o’clock and passed the Imprest Supply Bill without debate. In moving a resolution expressing appreciation of the late Mr T. E. Taylor and condolence with his widow and family, the Hon. J. M'Gowan, Acting Leader,'said the deceased was a unique personality. Not unfittingly he had been termed the stormy petrel of New Zealand politics, and his censure was severe even to the extent of rutblessness, yet he was correspondingly liberal in his praise, which, being carefully bestowed, was all the more appreciated. In his advocacy of any cause be espoused he was whole-souled and characteristically effective, and New Zealand grieved to-day at the cutting off of a public spirited legislator and citizen. The Hon. R. A. Loughnan, in a brief eulogy, seconded the motion. The Hons. J. Barr and J. T. Paul also made appreciative speeches. The motion was earned, and the Council rose till 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
