THE JULIAN APPEAL. [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, July 29. The stewards of the Wanganui Jockey Club met last night to rehear the Julian case., At the last winter meeting Julian was disqualified for 12 months for wilfully pulling the horse Napper in the Kailoke Hack Hurdles. Julian appealed, and the judges referred the matter back to the committee, to enable the jockey to be heard himself and to cal] evidence in his defence. The taking of evidence occupied over four hours, when the committee adjourned until Wednesday afternoon, when the matter will be tbeshod out. IN FINE FORM. Cabled that F, Wootton, the young Australian sportsman, rede four winners at Goodwood yesterday. A meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union was held last night, Messrs Fenwick (chairman), Campbell, Brady, Duncan, and M'Kay attending. The only business of any importance was the authorising of the fee due to the New Zealand Union to be paid. As the meeting was the final one of the executive as at present constituted, the Chairman look the opportunity of congratulating the committee and the secretary on the work done during the year.
