RIVER STEAMER CLUTHA. The new river steamer Clutha, which grounded on a sandbank at the bottom of Inch Clutha on Sunday, 16th inst., floated off on a high tide on Tuesday morning last, says the ‘ Free Press.’ After getting out of 'the chanenl between Inch Clutha and Goat Island, she navigated the Koau branch for some distance, but was again detained by shallows. Yesterday she reached Bowler's, about two miles below' Balclntha, where there is a stretch of shoal water when the river is as low as at present. The p.s. Clyde went down yesterday with the intention of hauling'the Clutha over the shallows, but could only approach within a couple of chains, and at latest the vessels were still in that position, and the new boat did not seem to have made much progress since the morning in her endeavor to reach Balclntha. The river is exceptionally low. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. LYTTELTON, July 28.-9 a.m., Mararoa, from Wellington (connected with the second express).
