CORONATION FAIR

"Wo want a bit of money to strengthen the trust fund, and so we thought we'd turn to and get, it." Such was the- answer given to-day by a Methodist when asked tho reason for holding; the Coronation Fair that was opened in tho St. Kilda Town liall this afternoon. The reply rests on faith and hope and that fine, spirit of selfreliance which characterises Methodism, and it may be taken as n sure thine- that t\v> effort will command the .support of all classes and prove successful. On its merits, also, this Fair is attractive—so it seemed to euir reporter when lie looked in at luiiclvtime. The stalls are liberally supplied with goods that the people ate likely to buy, ami then! are. numerous side attractions, including; plaving bv the bands. It was expected that Mr H. M. Ewing (Mayor of St. KiJda) would open the Fair, and that the Mayor of Dunedin won hi give it his blessing. The list of stallholders, as far as could be ascertained, was as follows:—Ladies' Cuihl stall—Mrs Smnmorell, Mrs Liicoins, Mrs Scott. Mrs .Mason, Mrs; Brook,' and Mrs M'Crone; jumble stall, boys of (he Bible class; fancy stall Mrs C. Ste-

venson, Mrs Walker, and Airs Hudson: fruit stall. Mr W. Fleming; lolly stidl ---Mrs Cameron, Mrs Virtue, and Airs Shrimpton; soft drinks. Mr C. Stevenson : Christmas tree, Mrs lies ; produce stall, Mr Evms; refreshment room—Mrs Aslin, Mrs Kempton, and Mrs Allen. The Fair is to be-, open till Friday evening.
