A RAILWAY ACCIDENT

ON THE MAIN TRUNK LINE. EXPRESS RUNS INTO A STANDING TRAIN. [Per United Fress Association.] AUCKLAND, July 24. The Main Trunk express from Wellington, when shunting at Ohakune, owing to a mistake in tho points, crashed into a etanding train. Two carriages were telescoped ar-d four others damaged, and had to bo left behind. Five passengers were on the platform of one of the carriages telescoped. Three were hurt, but not seriously. Tho express arrived at Auckland two hours late this morning. The mishap arose while tho refreshment ear was being shunted olf tho express train. Running back to tho siding, at ;ibout five miles an hour, tho engine driver evidently considered all clear, but the train sniErhed I into a detached stationary dining car, | drove it on to the goods train, ~nd, fcllow- | ing up, telescoped two second class carriages and damaged others, throwing tho passengers about in all directions and !
