THE GENERAL ELECTION.
Mr T. P. Gilfedder has been definitely announced as a candidate for the Wakatipu seat at the forthcoming General Election. . _
On dit that the Hon. T. Y. Duncan will be opposed for Oamaru by Mr E. P. Lee (solicitor), Mr Milligan (Mayor), and Mr Phillips (a small fanner at Dunback). Mr Massev's opponent for Franklin is Mr J. W. "M'Laren. At a meeting addressed by him last week the following comprehensive resolution was carried : " That this meeting of Waiaupa settlers give Mr M'Laren a hearty vote of thanks for his political address', _ and desire to place on record appreciation of the services rendered to this district by him during his residence here; that he has our fullest confidence, and we sincerely trust that the other electors of this constituency will ioin with us in placing him at the head of the^ poll at.the forthcoming general election."
