BAY TOWN BOARD.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —It is now some time since tho Bay Town Board proposed to widen tho Shiel Hill road from Mr Joflory's corner to the entrance of the school, a distance of about 300 yards, and a grant from the Public Works was obtained of £GOO for this work. Now, what do we find? That up to tho present nothing; has been clone but survey work, with frequent visits of tho engineer surveying, which amounts to five times in all. Surely there ought to bo a finality about the survey, otherwise the £6OO will be swamped up in this work alone, and the ratepayers will have to foot the bill for the completion of the work. This is not as it should be. I would suggest that, by the present proceedings of the Ikiard over this and other works, a vigilance committee of the ratepayers be formed to try to put a stop or check to this wilful waste; of money that is going on. It would bo interesting to know what tho expense of the survey work is. With an ordinary ratepayer who requires a survey of a road to open up his property one survey is sufficient for him, but evidently not tho Bay Town Board.—l am, etc.. Watchdog. May 25.
