DRAINAGE BOARD.
Messrs J. Arkle (chairman), W. T. M'Farlane, J. Campbell, J. Small, J. J. Marlow, J. S. Douglas, T. R, Christie, and Dr Fulton attended the fortnightly meeting of the Drainage Board held last night, J. S. Sinclair ' wrote concerning the drainage of Dunottar township. Chapman's subdivision, the trustees being anxious to proceed with the --ale. Mr Small rc|Mirted that he. and the engineer had met representatives of the trustees, and it had lieen agreed to accept £4OO. Arrangement approved of.—N. and E. S. Paterson wrote that they had been instructed by Messrs Rhodes and France to ask the Board to specify the work required to he done in laying drains along the new streets in lugs avenue subdivision. If the engineer thought it advisable that the work should not he done immediately oji account of the formation being now, or if it could ho done more economically at a later date as part of tlie Board's ordinary works, they would he glad if the Board would fix an amount which oould be paid now so that the certificate could be given at once. Engineer to make an estimate, and Executive to arrange, if possible, us in Dunottar estate. Messrs Rhodes and France, wrote, suggesting an alternative proposal for tlte disposal of storm water from block 6, Tainui. —Board's previous decision to be adhered to. The Works Committee reported Contract No. 415, Mornington reticulation, pail, of Glen : E. C. Holmes’s tender accepted, subject to the Board's formal approval of the sureties submitted hy Mr Holmes. Cartage contracts lor period ending 31st April, 1912: E. M'Kowen’s tender accepted. Detritus cart haulage: E. M’Kowcn’s tender accepted. New works: North-oast Valloy branch sewer, extension of 370 ft, authorised to serve houses erected since plan of present wwk was approved of. Broach of by-law. hy the use of an unlicensed man to lay drains—secretary instructed to take proceedings against proprietor.
