(Received May 24, at 10.5 a.m.) Harry Yardon, the famous English golfer, ha* definitely decided to visit Australia and New Zealand. OTAGO HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the Otago Hockey Association Executive was held last evening, Mr G. R. Ritchie presiding. Mr J. L. Hobbs, reierce in the junior match played on the North-east Valley ground, reported that the marking was very indistinct, almost invisible in places. It Was decided that the secretary arrange with St, Martin's Club to have tho outlines and circles re-marked. It was reported that Otago and Y.M.C.A. juniors had failed to keep their respective engagements on Saturday last. The secretary of the Otago Club wrote that their membership bar! been depleted owing to members having removed from tire district and from other causes, and the club had been unable to ascertain its true strength owing to the grounds not liemg available for the usual practices. It was further stated that Otago would be unable to continue in the junior grade, and they asked that the entry in Unit grade be cancelled. It was agreed that the Otago Club's junior team be withdrawn from that comjretition, and that m view of the difficulty clubs had been placed in through not having tho usual opportunities for assembling their members at practice, and thus making their arrangements for tho season, no lines bo indicted in regard to either of the two matches lost by default.; the Gymnastic junior team to Ire audited with a win against Y.M.C.A., and that in view of the Otago team withdrawing from the competition no entry pc recorder] as the result of the Otago-City match.

The Otago Ladies’ Hockey Club were granted permission to use one of the Association’s grounds for a match against the Milton Ladies’ Club on Juno 3; the secretary to allot the ground. It was also decided that there be no grade matches on Juno 5.

Mr Fell, on tohalf of Cymmastic Club, asked that the Gymnastic second team bo allowed to enter in the first grade. There was considerable discussion over this proI posal, several delegates expressing the opinion that the result would l>e to overload the senior grade at the expense of the juniors, and that if entry into the senior grade were made too easy there would to less incentive, to good play on the part junior- players, and the standard of hockey uould suffer. On a vote being taken the proposal to grade this team as senior was negatived, and Gymnastic second team will therefore continue in the second grade. Wilson's Board Room, Em--1 pire Buildings, last night, when there wore I present .Messrs 11. S. Black (in the chair), 11. Bauchop, R. S. Brown, S. N. Brown, G. W. Gibson, .1, S. Sinclair, and J. S. ! Nicholson. A letter was received . from Mr A. L. Bony tendering his resignation as secretary, and Mr E. S. Wilson was appointed secretary in his stead. Minutes of a meeting of the N.Z.L.T. Association were received, as was also a letter from the Association’s delegate (Mr T. Gray). A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs G. W. Gibson (convener), J. Daggar, and R. S. Black, were, appointed to make arrangements re planting dumbs at the Anderson Bay courts, with power- to act. Messrs R. S. Black (convenor), G. W. Gibson, and 11. S. Browu wero appointed a sub-committee to draw up a report within a fortnight of the improvements necessary at the Anderson Bay courts, and the estimated ccst of same. Tiro question of arranging winter matches was discussed, and players wishing to take part in these matches are requested to send in their names to the secretary of the Association on or before May 31, and should sufficient, inducement offer, these winter matches will then to arranged. [Dr Pockley is the -well-known Sydney player. M. J. G. Ritchie is the holder of tire Surrey County Championship, which ho has held for three successive years.
