CANTERBURY PIONEERS. [Pee United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 24. Alfred Cox, who represented Hcathcote in Parliament from 1863 to 1865, and Timaru from 1866 to 1868, died yesterday, aged eighty-siv. He had land in South Canterbury and Waikato until twenty-five yearn ago] when ho retired. He was editor of the well-known ‘Men of A lark in New Zealand.’ Another early settler, Mrs William Pratt, died yesterday, aged eightythree. She came to Nelson in 1843, and Canterbury in 1851.
