TO THI EDITOR. ' Sir,—ln your answers to correspondents I in Saturday’s issue re wreck of the steamer Victory in the early seventies, do 1 you refer to the wreck of the s.s. Victory at Wioklifte Bay? The date was July 3, ‘ 1861. Making a study of the early tunes ' I find there were several wrecks on the 1 Otago Coast that year. They were P.s. ’ Ada, at Molyneux, January 11; s.s. Victory, Wickliffe Bay, July 5; s.s. Oberon, Bluff, Julv 23; s.s. Oscar, New River, [ December 17. I alwm the information re
the Victory from ' A Sketch of Otago,' by Jas. M'lndoo (late M.P.C. for Caversham), published by R. T. Wheeler, 1878. It is not recorded in Br Hocken's precis of events.—l am, etc., D. M. Miller.
