AMI AM BRA THEATRE. A lane number of those who attended the races yesterday ended up the day at the Alhambr.i Theatre, and it was evident that thev enjoyed the vaudeville entertainment provided. All the members of the company were warmly applauded for thenefforts. " The programme, good from the first item to the last, will 1)6 given again this evening. FULLERS' PICTURES. Pictures which have never been shown in Dunedin will be screened at tho Princess Theatre this evening on the occasion of the mid-week change. Among the chief films will be 'Paul and Virginia' (a picture drama), 'Attack on Fort Ridgley' (Red Indian fighting), 'Rivers and Valleys of Norway,' 'Amongst tho Parsees ot Bombay,' and a number of dramatic and comic pictures. Fullers' orchestra will, as usual, play appropriate music. HAYWARDS* PICTURES. Good pictures never pall, and that in a putshell explains tho success of Haywards Picture Enterprises. Ltd. Tho films are chosen with discretion, and they are clear and freo from flicker. 'British Army Manoeuvres.' 'A Tour in the Alps," Broncho Horso-hreaking.' ' The Message of tho Violin.' and 'A Gross-country Race' are very Striking pictures, but there are many others that are also first-rate. •SWEET PHA AND DAHLIA SHOW. From entries to hand for the above a fine all-round display of autumn flowers should be in evidence in the Garrison Hall to-morrow. The array of sweet peas, embracing all the latest and finest novelties, will in itself alone make a show. 'The brilliant cactus dahlias (a great display of which will be forthcoming), and tho striking gladioli will lend a charming contrast to trie sweet peas. Collections of hardy cut flowers will also form attractive exhibits, and these, together with pot plants (flowering and foliage), and a very large display of floral work in tho decorative section, will require all the available space left after provision has been made for the entries in the fruit and vegetable'sections. A piogrammo of orchestral music will add to the attractiveness of the show in the evening. •THE DOLLAR PRINCESS.' If the rush of the public to secure advance booking ift anv definite criterion. 'The Dollar ~ PrinceeV the delightful musicai piav to be presented by Mr J. C. Williamson on Monday, should be sure of a fortunate live-nights' run. The plane were opened this morning at the Dresden, ana an especially fine' reservation resulted. Agreeable trilling with love with the British aristocracy and with a lady lion-tamer is the central "motive of -The Dollar Princess' libretto, admirably adapted from the Viennese original hv Basil Hood. 'I he music bv Leo Fall, "which is described as being ot a gracious and lyrical quality, flows continuously through tluee acts, accompanied by a dominating and singularly expressive waltz melody quite a.s captivating as -The Merry Widow.' ''.tho Dollar Princess' is a delightful "skit"_ on the relations of American multi-millioiiaires and certain impecunious British noblemen, 'the plutocratic Oil King in question is Harry Q. Conder. and it is his whim that, every servant in his house shall hear an old-world title. His butler is a duke, his "icon; an earl, his footman a baronet, his chauffeur a viscount, his housemaids dukes daughters, and so on. His relation* towards his domestics are peculiar. Tncy are on the meet friendly terms with their master, but resent the slightest familiarity on his part. Such a, menage provides manv comical situations. I here are some very attractive-, musical gems in the opera, including 'A self-made maiden, Bung bv Mifis" ( Hive Godwin as Alice Conder"; 'lnspection,' a duet by Miss Olivo Godwin and Mr Clayton; a catchy quartet. 'Shall I do for America?'; ' I hewska, described as the "hit"' of the piece; tho 'Tvpewritin-' - duet, and 'Follow me round. In"'Foolish questions' Mr Bert Gilbert has a fine opportunity, and ' Ring-a-roscs, by Mks Sargent and Mr Erank Greene, is said to be verv alluring. Mr-s Florence Young's chance comes in the operatic scon.-!,"' ' Hopeless is the state of inc.' Mr Percv, in conjunction with Miss Sargent, is heard in the highly-humorous duet ' The liamps.'
