Speaking in tho House of Representatives, the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Count Komura) declared that the Anglo-Japanese Alliancoi was constantly gaining strength, ensuring perfect accord and genuine goodwill. Tho Alliance continued to bo a powerful factor for tho general peace of the Far East. Tariff negotiations were proceeding with various Powers, aiming at the re-establishment by the Japanese of complete tariff autonomy, so as to eliminate unequal engagements. Ho hoped that a satisfactory treaty with Great Britain would shortly bo concluded.
