A letter from the Hermitage give:; further particulars (says a Wellington mussagc) of the ascT'iit of Mount Cook on December 3 by Miss l)u Faur, of Sydney, with two guides, Peter and Alex. Graham. This is tho first occasion on which a lady has climbed the mountain. After spending- the night on the Bivouac above the Hooker Glacier the party started at 2.60 a.m.. ami leached the main summit at 8.40. Tin. weather was perfectly calm and clear, giving them an extensive view, which included Mount Aspiring. After spending :i couple of hours on the summit the party descended. ;uul reached the Hermitage c n the afternoon of Sunday (4tn). Tho ascent was made, in 5h 50min from the Bivouac —
