FIRES
[.SI'KCIAL TO THE Kl'Alt.] ISALOLUTHA, December 9. Bell Bio.-.' bicycle shop, situated in the main street, was completely destroyed by firo :it. ono o'clock this morning. When tho alarm was given the flames had a good hold, and tho linn's motor car was saved with difficulty. The fire brigade arrived on tlio scene, but did not get into action till tho place was too far gone to save. Tho brigade's apparatus was ineffective. Tho windows and doors of Dunn and Eeddings's premises, adjoining, were scorched. Fortunately, there was no wind. Insurances : Boll's stock and fittings, £3OO in tho Allianco. The motor car was insured for £2OO in the same office. The owners estimate the loss at considerably abovo tho insurances. The building, which was of wood, was owned by Mr George Gilroy (Stirling). It is believed to be insured. Tho orig'n of tho firo is unicnown., [Ptai Unitkd Press Association.] BLENHEIM, December Q. At four o'clock this morning a shop in. Alfred street, owned by Levin and Co., and occupied by Mr E. H. Best, cycle dealer, was gutted by fire. The only tiling saved was a motor bicyclo. There wero half a dozen stags' heads, belonging to local sportsmen, in tho window, and these wore all lost. Mr Best is a heavy loser, having only £IOO on his stock in tho Royal Office. Tho building was insured in tlio same, offico for £4OO.
