Mr E. Trcgcar. Secretary to the Labor Department, will give up his duties at tho end of January, hut will receive three months' leavo of absence on full pay. .Mr D. L. Robertson, 8.A.. at present on tho staff of the Kaikorai School, has been re commended for tlio position ol iirst assistant at the Oamani Middle School. At tho meeting of the Ounedm Choral Soeietv Mrs J. R. Wilson (nee Miss Agnes Dawson), who has been honorary piamet to tho society for some three years, was presented with an afternoon tea set, a gilt from the members on tho occasion of her marriage. . Mr Alexander Steven, of the commercial department of this paper, was the recipient on Tuesday afternoon of an art copper fire suite, the gift of the members of the, business sUiff, as a wedding peewit. Mr F K. Cla.pperl-on made the presentation. Mr 1-1. T. Lawn, tho popular baritone singer, sulfered a relapse the other day. but has been successfully operated upon, and we learned last night that he was a little better and doing well.
