ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
John V. Sehapper, a, resident, of Hobsonville, was drowned in Auckland Harbor on Saturday night. The body of Patrick O'Connor was found in tho Avon at Christchurch on Saturday. Ho leaves a widow and twenty-three children. The police have been advised that Chas. Shannon, aged twenty-three, was drowned in the Manawatu River. He was a son of Mr James Shannon, of the Kaikorai Valley. A Palmerst.on North telegram gives'the name as David Shannon. A Gisborne, message states that Myrtle, Jane Johnson, aged eighteen months, daughter of a borough council employee, died as the result of drinking carbolic oil, which had been left on the table, in a saucer to keep flies away. Archie, Myers, aged thirty-two, a married man, living at Dcvonport (Auckland), died Ihis morning after taking a, Seidlitz powder. After swallowing Lho powder "Myers said it was bitter. Symptoms of strychnine poi?oning ensued. A doctor was called in, but the man died two hours later.
