A SLANDER ACTION

As a sequel to his action against the ‘Sydney Morning Herald’ on March 22, Captain John Strachan has commenced an action against Dr inner, German ConsulGeneral in Sydney, claiming £SOO damages for alleged libel and slander. The action is founded on a statement made by Dr Inner and published in the Press prior to Captain Strachan's case against the 'Herald,’ alleging that the, German authorities desired to get hold of Captain Strachan in order to recover a line intlictcd for recruiting natives in the German islands, and also the cost of bringing hack natives whom Captain Strachan was declared to have taken from the island of Tobi. Captain Strachan claims that these statements impute that he was guilty cf kidnapping, and earning on an infamous and dishonorable trade.
