ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

The monthly meeting of the Council of the Otago Acclimatisation Society was held yesterday afternoon, the president (Mr R. Chisholm) being in the chair.

Mr .Doans (Opoho hatchery) reported that on account of the dry weather they were pushing on with the distribution of fry and yearlings. The Milton Angling Society had told Mr Steven that an extra 1,000 yearlings had been promi.-cd ; he had had no instructions to that effect, hut had told Mr Steven to supply them.—Received. The Game and Doer Committee reported that a letter had been received from tho Waitaki Society stating that they had fallen in with the wishes of tho Otago Society in recommending the Government to postpone tho opening of tho deer shooting season until April 10. A questioner had been informed that in the event of tho sc:ison being so postponed that would ho sufficient ground for the return of any applicant’s deposit. The Committee recommended that the Council take action against deer stalkers retaining unused tags, two to be immediately proceeded a gai nst.
