Mr Robert Triggs, at one time chief clerk in the locomotive superintendent’s branch of tho New Zealand railways, and lately chief accountant on the Western Australian railways, has been appointed chief accountant in the Central Commonwealth Post and Telegraph Department, with r eadquarters at Melbourne Mr J. 11. Fox, railway locomotive engineer at Auckland, died suddenly on Monday night. The staff of tho Seddonville State colliery made a handsome presentation to Mr Janies Fletcher, manager, on his leaving lo take charge of the Tanpiri mines, Auckland. Mr Fletcher (reports a P.A. wire) said there had recently been discovered a very fine scam of coal in Charming Creek. The area must in time prove a wonderful boon to tho district. Ho sincerely hoped that before long tho development work now in hand would justify the speely opening up of that valuable asset to West port. Tho Auckland Presbytery (says a P.A. telegram) have nominated the Rev. A. Cameron, of Dunedin, as Moderator of the General Assembly-. Cr Barr returned from Wellington by the first express to-day. Mr E'. E. Stark cables to ns from Sydney denying tho rumor of his intended resignation as city electrical engineer. At St. Matthew’s Church this afternoon the Rev. Canon Curz.on-Siggers united in the bonds of matrimony Miss Doris Cargill and Mr Timaru R, Rhodes, of Hadlow Grange, Timaru. The bride is tho second daughter of Mr Archibald Cargill, and the groat grand-daughter of tho late Captain Cargill; while the bridegroom is the eldest son of the late Mr Timaru Rhodes, ami a cousin of Mr Heaton Rhodes, M.P. The bride, who was dressed in cream satin trimmed with lace, is a grand-da lighter of Mrs W. H. Cutten (at whose homo tho reception took place), and was given away by Mr F H. Cutten. The bridesmaids were Misses Ethel Cargill, Isabel Hart, Airini Rhodes, and Moana Rhodes. Mr M. Godby was best man, and Mr Albert Cargill groomsman. Tho ceremony was choral.

The churchwardens and Vestry have elected (and the vicar has approved thereof) Mr Sidney Wolf, organist of St. Mary’s, Mornington, to the post of organist of St. Matthrw-’s. on the terms drawn up by the vkar and included in Mr Wolfs application. Tho Vestry resolved that “in recording the resignation of Mr Lilly os organist the Vestry place on record their great appreciation of his regulai attention to and performance of his duties to the best of his ability. Tho Vestry wish him every success in his new sphere.” The vicar having intimated that the parish wero indebted to the vicar of Morninglon tor tho application of Mr Wolf and otherwise facilitating matters, the Vestry passed tho following resolution: —“The Vestry record their appreciation of the courtesy and kindness of the vicar of Mornington. Archdeacon Neiid, in recommending his organist, Mr Sidney Wolf, for the vacant post at St, Matthew’s, and for his willingness to facilitate .Mr Wolfs undertaking the duties in December.” It was left to the churchwardens to take steps for a presentation to Mr A. W. Lilly in December. but no action whatever was to be taken till after the mission.

At the City Hall last night the members of tho Law Debating Society presented Mr P. W. Thomson fan ox-sec-retary of the Society) with a eilvormonnted inkstand snitablv inscribed. Mr Thomson intends to practice as a solicitor in Taranaki province.
