CRICKET
SOUTH* AUSTRALIA BEATS VICTORIA. The interstate match South Australia, v. Victoria was continued at Adelaide yesterday. Victoria made 305 runs in their second innings (Ransford 71, Armstrong 27. Kortlang 69 not out). Rees captured four wickets for 66, Whitty two for 68, Crawford two for 88, Hewer one for 13, and Wright one for 52. South Australia obtained the necessary 202 runs for four wickets (C. Hiil 68, Crawford 25, Gehers ICO not out). Armstrong took throe wickets for 68, and Denny one for 85. South Australia won by six wickets. THE 'SOUTH AFRICANS. The South Africans have two extended practice spells daily under match conditions. It is noticeable that their bowling is a bit short owing to their being accustomed to a matting wicket, but they aro rapidly becoming accustomed to the new conditions. PLUNKET SHIELD MATCHES. The Auckland Association have accepted the dates suggested by Wellington (December 24, 26, and 27) 'for a Plunkct Shield match, subject to the approval of the New Zealand Council. Hawke's Bay have been offered the New Year dates. SCHOOL MATCHES. The series will commence on Saturday next. The order for tho fust round for the seniors trill be: Christian Brothers A v.
