A GRUESOME FIND

Details have reached St. Petersburg of a shocking discovery which has been made in a deserted inn in the Siberian hamlet of Gregor. Some time ago a man named Domeizeko, on being discharged after serving a term of imprisonment. secured a small estate on which stood an inn. Ibis inn in duo course became a harbor of refuge for hunted criminals, the larger number of whom were “wanted for thefts ot gold from mines in the neighboring district. The fugitives received at the hands of Domeizeko both food and shelter, in return for which they paid him in gold dust. At night time, when, the criminal had enjoyed the keeper s hospitality throughout the day and was preparing for bod, Domeizeko would mix a powerful narcotic with wine, and when the unsuspecting guest had fallen asleep ho was calmly murdered and robbed of every particle of gold in his possession. The corpses of the luckless men thus victimised were preserved by the innkeeper in barrels of salt, and it was as well for each successive guest that never till the day of his death did he know that it was from the ghastly contents of these barrels that the innkeeper prepared his guests’ meals. Ho succeeded in keeping the secret of his larder until he died, and it was not until tho police commenced to make an inventory of the deserted inn that they had the slightest suspicion of tho whereabouts of some of their most searched-for criminals. The total number of his victims is not known, but tho with their awful contents show that it must have been consider'' able.
