NEW. YORK, July 7.
There were hundreds of passengers aboard the steamer Grand Republic when a terrific fire broke out amidships. The steamer raced to the pier at Eocknway Beach, arriving safely. Tho Grand Republic was a 'sister ship to the General Slocum, an excursion steamer, which was burned in 1904, hundreds of men, women, and children losing their lives.
