BOWLING

KAITUNA CLUB. The annual meeting of the above club I last night was presided over by Mr J. A. Haslett, There were about forty members present. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that they would all agree that Kaituna Club I had had a very successful and pleasant season. The standard of play had been well upheld. They had secured a fair number of outside trophies, the principal of which was the champion of champions, which they had secured for the second time, Mr C, J. Payne having been the wiuer before Mr F. Smith. As far as he '(the chairman) could see, there was no reason whv Kaituna should not win the trophy for a third time. It was interesting to note that the chib had completed their majority. They were now entering upon their twenty-second year in a state of I robust health, and if the members wanted ; Kaituna to progress as they had done in j tiie past, it would he necessary for them to continue their individual efforts. They had secured a renewal of their lease from the City Corporation at a reduced rental, and in' this direction the club were indebted to Mr J. C. Stephens for his mediatory efforts. Their finances were in a healthy condition. They had paid a considerable amount off their overdraft, and it was reasonable to hope that in the near future the overdraft would be quite extinguished. The green was in excellent condition, and Mr Mercer (their greenkeeper) had worked hard to bring it to its present good state of repair. The Commitco and office-bearers had worked harmoniously together, and had been a happy family. ' He thanked the secretary and treasurer particularly for assistance afforded.

Mr P. Barr seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. The Chairman then presented the prizes won during the last season. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President. Mr P. Barr; vicepresident, Mr J. 11. Walker; secretary, Mr J. Scott; treasurer, Mr G. F. Smith; auditor, Mr T. Sutcliffe; Selection Committee—Messrs W. Watson, J. Scott, and T. Larabourne: Committee —Messrs J. G. Patterson, J. C. Stephens, T. Lambourne, W. Endey, J. Connell, and T. Sanders ; delegates to Centro —Messrs J. C. Stephens and J. Scott. A vote of thanks to the president and ether office-bearers was passed with acclamation. [ Mr C. J. Payne’s motion that a sublease be granted to the Tennis Committee for ten years at £25 per anam, with certain conditions, led to a very Jong discussion, over an hour being occupied, principally by the mover and Mr J. C. Stephens. It was resolved to grant a lease for five years at £3O per annum.

Mr J. A. ITasleU moved —“That, with the object of leaving more time for ‘ home ’ play, the club’s ([“legates be instructed to urge the Dunedin Centre to arrange interclub matches in two sections. ” He pointed out that it was desirable to have more home play than heretofore.—Seconded by Mr Stephens and carried. A motion by Mr Haslett—“ That the Committee be asked to consider at an early date the advisability of lighting one or more rinks by electricity”—was lest.

It was decided that delegates vote for Easter and Christmas tournaments in Dunedin. The opinion was also expressed that the Association tournament should be held at Christmas.
