FIRES
[Per United Press Association.] HASTINGS, March 17. A thirtecn-roomod house, owned and occupied by Mrs E. Bamforth, was totally destroyed by tiro yesterday afternoon. The cause is unknown. Mrs Bamforth was absent in Wellington, and the remainder of tho family were away at the time of tho outbreak. A quantity of furniture was saved. Tho insurance'on the building was £250 in tho National, and the furniture was insured for £2OO in the Alliance Office.
