SCARRING ST. CLAIR.

TO TilE EDITOR Sir, —I notice in to-night's 'Star' a letter from the owner of tire two sections of land or sand adjoining Mr J. Wright's property, in which he says that he does not know if he will be as successful as his neighbor, but is game to try. Now, if he would like to show- as good results, why don't he go to work on the same lines. The sections owned by Mr Wright were, before being built on, just the same in every way as the sections in which those cuts are made, and before Mr Wright started to build he never tcok a load ol sand away—he simply levelled a. piece near the top sufficient lo place his house on, and in doing so made a drop at tho back of about 6ft, which he made good by building a concrete wall. The sand that has been removed, and is still in process of being taken away, is taken from the sections to the east of those on which the house is built. In regard to removing this mound ot sand, my own opinion is that it is a piece of madness on the part of the owner, and f sincerely hope that some way will be found to put a stop to it before it is too late. It is well known tint Victoria road is nearly a foot lower than the sea at high tides, and whatever difficulty there may he in draining the sections of'Forbury Park, tho Drainage Board should be able to come to a correct finding in regard to the waters of the Pacific it these mounds aro taken away.—l am, etc.. Oxk of tiik Neighbors. March o.
