OTAGO REGATTA
Ihe Otago annual regatta, held at Port Chalmers to-day, started well up to adver Used time. A strong south-west breeze was blowing at the commencement, and freshened when the time for the second raco came on. The water was so iou K h that the judges ordered the boats back and'at a subsequent meeting of the Committee it was decided to put back all the rowing events for an hour and a-half to see if the wind would moderate. In the sailing events, which all commenced to schedule tune, the yachts were sent away under reefed sails. Of the four starters in the 16ft open sailing boats two boats capsized, and the race was cried off.
