Tho South Island Poultry Association’s annual conference was continued yesterday afternoon and evening. —lnter-club Challenge Shield.— The Christchurch Club submitted conditions drawn up in connection with a scheme for the establishment of an interclub challenge' shield , competition.—After discussion, the scheme was apoted. Tho price of the shield was limited to £l2. Tho shield will be confined to three breeds, of which two shall be selected from Division I. [Leghorns, Wyandottcs, Minorca?, and Orpingtons) and Division IT., consisting of all breeds of poultry. Christchurch and Dunedin agreed to withdraw from the first allotment to enable small cociclies to have a better chance of winning tho shield in the first year. —Appeals.—■ Messrs Fairey and Best appealed against the decision of the Nelson Club ruling against the awarding of a special prize for most points in poultry. The question to bo decided was whether prizes won by ducks should be counted for points in a special prize allotted to poultry.—Appeal allowed, the Nelson Club to bo instructed to pay according to its printed schedule. The Chairman pointed out that ducks were included in the schedule of prizes offered by the Nelson Club for dressed poultry. W. A. .Salmon (Picton) appealed against the action of tho Nelson society in refusing his entries for the Association championship at its show in July last. The Nelson society relied <m its rule (No. 7) which gave it power to refuse any entries. Telegrams and letters relating* to the matter were read by the secretary (Mr Hardy). One of these telegrams from Mr Hardy informed the Nelson society that it must accept Mr Salmon’s entries for the Association championship, irrespective of his entries for its own prizes.—The protest, after hearing explanations from the delegate of the Nelson society, was disallowed on the ground that Mr Salmon's entries were received too late.

Mr W. Ei-riii,gton appealed against the Ternuka Club for its award in connection with exhibits that carried most points in any one variety of canaries. The question was whether color-feeding constituted a variety, as tho club held.--The matter was discussed at- length, and it was decided that color-fed and non-eolor-fed Norwich ranaruM worn ono* variety ; contiorjiiontiv the appeal was upheld. It' was further decided that cross-bred and crested Norwich be considered one variety. The secretary read correspondence that had pat sod between the Timnni society and the Association relative to a protest lodged relative to coloring of the legs of a Black Leghorn exhibited at the late show. Jeffreys. —Show Days.— The following fixtures for show days were agreed to*:—Dunedin, June, 1, 2, 3; Christchurch, June 2, 3, 4: Maniototo, June 8 : Ashburton, June 10, 11 ; Temuka, June 15, 16: South Canterbury, June 24, 25; Taieri, June 25; Marlborough, Juno 24, 25: Gore, Juno 2-9, 30; Wyiidham, June 29, 30; Oamaru, July 1, 2; Genuity, July 1, 2; North Canterbury, July 7, 8; Southland, July 8, 9: Nelson, Juiv 7, 0. 9; Tapauui, July 16; Picton. July 29. Grouping of Championships.— The. Committee set up to group the championships re com mended three groups of five, as follows:—Group 1; Minorca? (White, Brown, Black), Leghorns, and any other color. Group 2 : 'Wyandottcs (Silver, Golden, and White), Orpingtons (Black and Buff). Group 3 : Hamburg®, Game (Old English and Modern), Plymouth Rocks (any variety), ducks (any variety), bantams (any variety). The West Coast championships wore allotted as fallowsßlenheim, Plymouth Rocks and ducks; Picton, Old .English Game.; Nelson, magpie and .can'arv; Grimily, .Silver Wyandotte and Orpington. A ballot was taken for the group championship for pigeons and canaries. Pigeons fell to Christchurch and canaries, to Dunedin. The other chibs in the ballot wore : North Canterbury, Temuka, Timaru, and Invercargill. The drawing for the challenge shield resulted in Grimily winning it. It was resolved that the next annual meeting be held in Christchurch, and the next half-yearly meeting at Oamaru. Tho conference concluded with voles of thanks.
