NEW ZEALAND BOXING CHAMPION SHIPS.

The New Zealand boring championships, which are to be decided to-morrow and Friday evenings at His Majesty's Theatre,, have attracted entries from all parts of the Dominion, 'and all the principal affiliated Associations, from Auckland to the Bluff, will be represented by their best men. The Auckland team are very strong, and are confident of annexing one or two championships. The Auckland bantamweight representative (O'Meara) and Manly (the middle-weight) are said to be the two best men in their respective classes ever seen in Auckland. The Wellington team are also very strong, particularly in the bantam and feather-weight classes, and the manager states his confidence of winning both these championships, despite the fact that there will be strong opposition from Auckland, West Coast, Napier, and' Timaru. The Canterbury team arrived last evening, and are a very likely looking lot. The manager states that the' team are strongest in the welter, middle, and heavyweight divisions. Mazey, ex-New Zealand champion, will be a competitor, and is looked on to win the welter-weight chain pionship. The Southland team will arrive to-night. They number twelve of the best men in Southland and Invercargill. Reports speak well of their chances. The Otago team is a strong one, and good training has been indulged in All the members are fit, and at least two championships should remain in Dunedin. The first bout will commence each evening at 7.45 o'clock. OTAGO HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The fortnightly meeting of the Executive was held last evening, the president (Mr J. A. Park) being in the chair. Correspondence was received from Auckland and Southland Associations notifying the dates of interprovincial matches to be played at Dunedin during August; from the All Saints' Club appointing delegates to the Association; from the Gymnastic Club explaining transfers of players from one junior team to another. It was resolved to notify the Gymnastic Club that their explanation was considered satisfactory. It was reported that the Otago Rugby Union had agreed to allow the Association the use of Carisbrook Ground for the interprovincial matches against Southland and Auckland on the 14th and 21st August respectively. It was decided to hold a trial match on the 7th August, also to endeavor to arrange for a junior representative team to play at Oamaru on the sth August. A sub-committee was Fet up to report to next mealing en a scheme for raising funds for improvement of grounds. LADIES' HOCKEY. In view of the interprovincial match to be played against Canterbury on the 7th August in Dunedin, the Match Committee have selected the following to play in a trial match at For bury on Saturday : Probables : Misses I. J. Smith, a nephew of Charles Memmott, champion billiard player of Australia, is at present in Dimedin, and will play a local amateur at Wain's Hotel tonight, giving him 300 out of 600. A Napier message states that the Rugby Union last night disqualified for five years a player for using obscene language and striking a referee.
