THE WHEAT MARKET

A SPECULATOR'S VIEW. Press Association—By Telegrapn—Copyright NEW YORK, Aprii 20. Several suggestions have been made to have the wheat import duty abolished. The Tariff BUI, now before Congress, proposes to increase it to 30 cents per bushel. Mr Patten, the speculator, says that the abolition would be without effect, because the world's markets are now on a' parity. America will require to import corn, oats,' and live stock before long. The Secretary of Agriculture's (Mr Wilson) estimate of the wheat at present on the farms of America, he declares, is 50 per cent, too high.
