SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The monthly meeting of the School Commissioners of Otago was held to-day; present—Mr W. Dallas (chairman), Mr D. Borrie, and Mr E. H. Wilmot. The Secretary for Education wrote stating that Mr J, A, Hanan, M.P., had been appointed a school commissioner for the unexpired period of office held by the -late Hon. H. Feldwick. The Secretary reported the following apportionment of rents for quarter ended 51st March : —Otago Education Board, £768 18s 8d; Southland Education Board, £319 7s; Otago High Schools’ Board, £l4 17s lid; Southland High Schools’ Board, £9 8s 9d; Waitaki High Schools’ Board, £7 4s 3d. The Clerk to the Taieri Drainage Board wrote staling that the Board had decided to pay 6s 8d in the £ off all accounts owing by the dissolved Otokia Dra- mge Board, and asked for a statement of account.—lt was agreed to accept the 6s 8d as an instalment of the amount duo on the judgment. The Secretary reported that a. number of sections in the townships ol Haw-ksbury, Balclutha, Havelock,. Palmerston, Port Chalmers, and \Vafhola, also a section in Otokia district, were offered for lease, but only one section was taken up—viz.' 8, block 27, Havelock, by Hr AVm.
