DEATHS FROM SCARLET FEVER.

< -\ A MOTHER, HER DAUGHTER, AND NURSE. It is only a few weeks ago since three members'of one family at Green Island— Mrs Fastier and her two daughters—were attacked with scarlet fever, and it makes Bad reading to record the death of two of them, and also of the nurse who attended to the family at their home. The mother fell a victim to the disease a- short time ago, and only the other day the two daughters were removed to the Infectious Diseases Hospital. The case of Florence Margaret, a promising girl of seventeen years, was regarded as hopeless from the first, ajid she passed away yesterday. The lyase (Misa Robertson) who at great risk to herself bravely left her home in Maori Hill to succor the sick, also contracted the fever, and those interested in the cases were shocked to learn this morning that she had followed Miss Fastier to her Ion" rest on the same day. Nurse Robertson was trained at' the Dunedin Hospital, and those in a position to speak describe her as one of the test who ever left the hospital. The other Miss Fastier, it is pleasing to learn, is making good progress, and every hope is entertained for her "recovery. Miss Smith, the matron at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, has her hands full just now, but to use the words of Mr J H Walker (chairman of the Hospital Board) ": ' She is doing excellent work, and is attending on her patients day and ni^ht."
