DRAUGHTS ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Draughts Association was held at Gore last night.

Mr P. G. Gray (president) occupied the J chair, and Mr Frobarth acted as secretary. The balance-sheet of the last tourney showed that the receipts were £92 Is 9d, and the expenditure £7l 3s Bd, leaving a balance of £2O 18s Id. In response to a telegram from the Leys Institute Draughts Club accepting the responsibility for next year’s tourney, Auckland was selected as the locality for the next tourney, i The sub-committee appointed to revise the rules recommended the formation of a ; central board of control. Dunedin was ; chosen unanimously as the centre, and the | following members were appointed ; i Messrs Abernathy, Boreham, Brodie, CalI now, Butterfield, and Montgomery. It j was decided to recommend the Board to j repister the Association. I The following officers were appointed : j President, the president of the Leys Insti- ! tute Draughts dub, Auckland ; secretary, ! Mr Koefold, Auckland ; the president-elect to appoint two local vice-presidents, j Mr Hilliker presented Mr M‘Kay (secretary), on behalf of the visiting players, with a gold-mounted ribbon albert as a i token of the appreciation of the kindnesses received. The matter of the style of play at the I next tourney caused a deal of (discussion, and it was resolved to recommend the Auckland Committee to adopt the two-life system in the championship, with an all- | round handicap for all-comers.
