A FALSE RUMOR.
A false tumor is being persistently circulated by interested parties to the effect that if the mid-week half-holiday is carried by the citizens that factory employees and those engaged in similar work will also have to take the same day.
This Is not the case. The Saturday half, holiday is fixed by Act of Parliament for rlj. employed in manufacturing concerns, workshops, factories, and the like THE POLL TO BE TAKEN ONLY AFFECTS SHOPS, and will decide whether the shopkeepers are still to be at liberty to close on Wednesday in order that they may remain open to supply the wants of those who find Saturday afternoon and evening the only convenient time for shopping or whether they will be COMPELLED to close on Saturday, whether they like it or no.
