i INTERNATIONAL SCULLING, Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, November 6. (Received November 7, at 8.30 a.in.) A strong committee are arranging for an international sculling handicap on the Thames. probably in May next, for a prize of £SOO presented by the Nugget Polish Company through the ‘Sportsman.’ The Committee hope that Australians and New Zealanders will compete. THE AUSTRALLAN ELEVEN. Air F. C. Raphael, lion. secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Association, who returned to Christchurch yesterday after a visit to Australia, states that a‘ difficulty has arisen between members of the Australian representative cricket team to visit ; England and the Board of Control. The i players are insisting on the old arrangement being followed, whereby each receives a pro rata share of the receipts, hut the Board demand a percentage of the net receipts. The Board will meet next week, and Air Raphael is of opinion that the players will agree to the terms of the Board. If an agreement is not come to he does not see how a first class team can be sent to England. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. The secretary of the New Zealand Football Association has received a letter from the South African Football Association agreeing to send a team of first-class players to New Zealand in 1909. There are several points regarding the guarantee which have to bo duly authenticated before the South African Association will definitely decide to send the team. They prefer to send fifteen players and to appoint the captain as manager aboard the ship, the New Zealand Football Association to undertake the actual management when the team is in New Zealand. Two matches a week will be played, and on 1 occasions, in cases where extensive travelling is not required, a third game could be arranged. The New South Wales Association have also offered to send a team next season providing the New Zealand Association’s offer is still open. GOLF.
