ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH. At a special meeting of Urn congregation of St. Andrew’s Church, called for the purpose of considering the question of missionary support in the foreign field, it was stated Unit £lO6 3s per tmimm hat been promised towards the support of Miss Anderson in Canton. The following motion was carried unanimously:—"That the hearty thanks of St Andrew's congregation arc given to those whose generous response has made it possible to support Miss Anderson as otr missionary in the foreign field. The congregation herobv resolve to undertake the future rapport of the missionary as a permanent obligation." It was resolved that if, on receipt of the balance of the promises, the Committee find themselves in a position to warrant serious consideration of the appointment of a second missionary, they call a meeting | to ascertain the feeling of the congregation on the subject. A concert organised by the Yonng Men’s Institute orchestra of the North-east Valley for the purpose of raising money for the piano fund was held last night in the Presbyterian Sunday School Hail. Besides selections by tli* orchestra, were solos by Mire N. Taylor, Mrs Drydon, Mosers J. Davidron, L. E. Broad, a recitation by Mias J. Fraer. violin solo by Mr J. Coombs, -and a quartet by Misses N. Taylor, V. Morrison. Messrs* W. Taylor, O. White. Messrs D. Brown and P. Duncan contributed a conjuring “turn.’ Mr J. Campbell acted as chairman. Miss A. Steven was accompanist, and Mr D. Brown conductor of the orchestra.
