Forty-eight pigeons competed, representing twenty-five lofts. The race was limited to two pigeons from each kfft. The birds had a light south-west wind and occasional rain showers to fly against. N'xt Saturday’s race is from Kaitoke, penning up Tuesday evening. BOWLING. The Hon. J. A. Millar officially opened the Roslyn Club’s Green on Saturday afternoon. The Minister, who is a member of the club, said that bowling was the cleanest game he knew of, being entirely free from the money element in the wav of gambling, and friendships formed on the green were among the firmest made. He spoke of the freemasonry connected-with the game, and ended by calling on Mrs Scott to roll up a bowl, which she did, and the green was formaly declared open. The weather was too wet for play, but the function in the bowlhouse was of a pleasant and friendly nature. J The North-east Valley Club also opened their season on Saturday. A few members put in an appearance, but there was no ceremony, except that the president (Mr J H. Spencer) formally declared the season open.
