THE NO-LICENSE PARTY REPLY TO THE LIQUOR PARTY.
The beer monopolists have declined to • debate No-license success in Ashburton, Clutha, Gore, Oamaru, or Invercargill. - • *******. They prefer talking about Maine, 7,000 miles away, but even about that will not give a straight answer to out question. ******* Most of the arrests quoted by tho Liquor men never came before any Court. Different police practice under strong prohibition sentiment makes those figures valueless. We never quote misleading figures. ******* Governor Cobbe, of Maine, states that liquor expenditure has decreased from £4 ' per head under License to 7£d per head under Prohibition. ******* Success, not failure, accounts for the three neighboring provinces—viz.. New I Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Ed- ! ward Island—voting for Prohibition by I 71,000 to 15,000, after forty-seven years’ * observation of its working in Maine.' ******* Who is now evading the point at issue?' Who refuses to answer questions and ' debate ? —[By arrangement.]
